The Cartoonist closes down shop for the festive period, which is also universally known as the Christmas Holidays; I've had enough for this year. And that means from today onwards, my graphic design business has already closed doors since Monday. Basil might show up here from time to time though, since he hates Christmas and everything connected with it. I'll be back after the 27th. Meanwhile, all my German speaking readers may enjoy this.

Peter Hein and Franz Bielmeier performing Innenstadtfront (together with Male, if I'm not completely mistaken). Also, Peter's book, Geht so. Wegbeschreibungen. A quote stolen from a review in the TAZ: "Selbst Magdeburg könnte seinen Reiz haben, findet sich dort doch "Zuckerbäckerstalinismus in klein, der in ein ganz entzückendes Beispiel urbaner Leere übergeht".

Dear Cthulhu, I want many bas-reliefs and tentacles from the Old Ones for Christmas. Also, a violin. Thank you. Brill. Via ectoplasmosis, a fab new weblog. Before I forget: here's a gruesome Cthulhu movie.

She appeared about a year ago in the garden, out of nowhere, just sitting there, looking, watching. A few months ago she got into the house somehow and stole food. A few weeks ago she came into the living room and watched telly with me, loudly purring. She now appears to be living and sleeping here. The little reddish-brown cat. The new cat. And my black cat hates her.

In 1985 I began a photo-documentation of the Iron Curtain, travelling across Europe along the former dividing line between East and West. The pictures were made in color with a 4x5 view camera, and describe the topography of the border with its fences, watchtowers, and no man's land. To my knowledge, this is the only comprehensive project of its kind dealing with the now-vanished Iron Curtain landscape.
